Star of Davao champs lead Davao leg of Pinoy Idol

TWO GRAND
champions of NCCC’s Star of Davao were among the chosen few in yesterday’s Pinoy
Idol
audition in Davao City.

Mary
Lycel Millan and Juliet Bahala got the gold ticket, the pass in going to

Manila to face the other
qualifiers for a spot in the Top 24, from judges Ogie Alcasid, Jolina Magdangal
and Wyngard Tracy.

Millan is
the third Star of Davao grand winner in 2006. Bahala succeeded the following
year. Star of  Davao is the biggest annual
singing competition in

Davao

City organized by NCCC
Mall of Davao. Star champs are the frequent performers of NCCC Davao.
The
25-year-old Lycel is currently taking up law course at Ateneo, while
17-year-old Juliet is a first year student of

University of Mindanao.

As off 5
pm yesterday, only six gold tickets were given.

The four
others which passed the Davao
leg are Philip John Espada, Gemma Hernandez, Marchie Domag and Germabel Lagat.
It could not immediately ascertain if the other four are all from

Davao

since some of the aspirants are from the neighboring
regions of

Davao

.

A total
of 42 aspirants who were given the blue tickets in Thursday’s pre-screening
returned yesterday to face the judges.

As off
press time, at least 15 contestants were still set to face the judges.
