Samadhi board sticks with Madarang

MUSICIAN
Ben Madarang, elected in absentia as president of the Samahan ng mga Musikeros
sa Davao, Inc. last week, will remain as the head of the city’s biggest group
of musicians.

Samadhi
board of directors headed by chair Popong Landero yesterday turned down the
request of Madarang to swap post with vice-president elect Percival Tan.

Madarang,
used to be the bassist of Davao-based Afterfriends band, is currently out of
the country. He is currently working as musician in a Europian luxury cruise.

He
is expected to return in Davao by March.

Madarang,
in an e-mail to the body, said he is willing to swap place with his vice
president. In last week’s election, he was represented by his brother, Sam,
also a musician.

But
the board which voted him last week was firmed to have him as president.

Pending
Madarang’s leave, vice-president elect Tan will temporarily assume his duty.

Immediate
past president and group founder Noli Bencio credited Madarang for the growth
of Samadhi.

One
of Samadhi’s active members, Madarang was a board member last year. He left
Davao late last year for a job in Europe.

The
new set of Samadhi’s officers will be inducted on March 2, with or without the
president, at Kanto Bars.
