Landero pushed as new Samadhi prexy

Popong Landero is pushed as the next president of the biggest group of
musicians in Davao City.
The newly Davao, Inc (Samadhi) will have its first
elected 15-man board of Samahan ng mga Musikeros sa
meeting today to discuss plans for 2008.
The board
of directors will also elect the new president and other officers. The general
membership picked up 15 members to compose the board of director during the
week-long elections that ended last Feb. 3.
Outgoing
Secretary Sandra Carpio said only one of the elected 15 board members signified
his intention not to serve due to schedule problem. The rest, including
outgoing president Noli Bencio, already accepted their new post. Bencio had
said he would no longer run for the presidency.
During
the Feb. 3 election, Popong tied with Sandra for having the most number of
votes with 61 votes each.
Popong,
in his text message to TIMES, said he favors to discuss first the mission and
vision, including the constitutions and by law, of the group before having the
elections for the presidency. Popong, a two-time winner of Huni, is the leader
of the reggae band Popong Landero Org. and one of the most respected musicians
in the city.
Samadhi
was founded by Bencio in 2006 with the aim to uplift the conditions of
musicians in the city.
The group
has around 300 members, mostly professional musicians who are performing in various
entertainment clubs in the city.
