Una Ka Bai! jumpstarts Davao’s mornings
DAVAOEÑOS now have more reasons to get out of bed when their clocks hit 6AM as GMA Network introduces the newest barkada on the early weekday morning block via Una Ka Bai!
Set to premier this Monday, October 8, Una Ka Bai! is GMA-5’s jumpstarter that meticulously fuses information and entertainment. It will air as a de-chained portion of Unang Hirit.
Tracing its roots, Una is a denotation for “first,” “early,” “morning,” and the like. Bai, meanwhile means “three-fold” and an acronym for Balita At Iba pa.
Una Ka Bai! is bannered by the youthful and energetic barkada composed of Derf Maiz, Sarah Hilomen, and Mary Ken Sobrecarey.
Derf is one of the more familiar faces in GMA’s evening primetime newscast, Testigo. He is one of Testigo’s hardworking correspondents and takes pride in being part of the most-trusted news organization in the country. Sarah is no stranger to the business of news as well. The demure pride of Tagum City is a regular writer for one of the major national broadsheets. Mary Ken, fondly nicknamed MK, is the youngest in the group but not exactly lacking in experience. MK has been a guest host for GMA-Davao’s weekend variety show Kuyaw! for its Samakurat segment.
Una Ka Bai! is set to unfurl a horde of exciting segments that will surely give the early morning viewers something to look forward to aside from enjoying a good breakfast.
Heading Una Ka Bai!’s list of regular segments is Una Sa Balita. This segment highlights the biggest and most important issues especially those that have local impact. CPR – Crime, Police and Rescue Stories will deliver straight, hard news while Showbiz ni Bai tells the latest showbiz news – both local and foreign.
Also, the show offers fair amount of time for extensive discussions of the hottest possible issues in Sa Tinuod Lang, Bai. Viewers are encouraged to text or call in their opinions and questions about the topic at hand.
GMA’s newest early morning program has also prepared weekly segments set to highlight each day of the week. On Mondays, health lifestyle tips and medical updates are up for grabs in Kalusugan Korner. Tuesdays are reserved for ‘business talk’, literally as Kaya Nato ni Bai! brings self-help and business tips. Wednesday is fashion day with up-to-date features from the Kikay Squad. Thursdays are reserved for sports with Pang-Sports Pud as the latest in local and foreign sports are set to be featured. Fridays are booked for home care as agriculture and cooking how-to’s are given focus in Unsaon ni Bai.
Viewers will be thrilled to know that more exciting surprises await them as Una Ka Bai! will be giving away daily freebies. In Kapuzo Kraze, collectibles will be given to those who have Kapuso stickers posted on their cars, stores, etc. While two 100-peso loads will be given to those who will send the best texts in Txt Wiz 4 D Day.
