UKB aims to serve, not to compete

IT’S not about competition. It’s about giving DavaoeƱos the choice.
Hosts of GMA’s Una Ka Bai!, Davao’s newest TV show, claimed they are no way competing with their rival show, the much established Maayong Buntag Mindanao, in the morning spot.
The daily morning infortainment show Una Ka Ba! starts on Monday at 6:00 am. Competitions between the two morning shows are expected by televiewers.
In yesterday’s informal talk where the hosts were bombarded with questions on "competition" issue by Davao entertainment/lifestyle journalists, the trio of Derf Maiz, Sarah Hilomen and Mary Ken Sobrecarey, however, said their show can surely give a good fight in the rating game.
"We are giving them (the viewers) the choice," said Hilomen, who expressed her respect to the 12-year-old MBM as the longest-running shows in Davao. "Our purpose is to give information (and) service."
Cel Amores, GMA regional news and public affairs program manager, said the new show will give local flavor in their morning show.
Amores said the Kapuso show is not in direct head-to-head competition to MBM since Una Ka Bai! will start earlier than it rival local show. MBM usually starts around 6:30 am.
Una Ka Bai! will take the 6 am news segment of Unang Hirit. Amores admitted that the rating of UH is not high in Davao. UH is the top early morning show in Metro Manila.
Earlier, the Kapamilya Network said it welcome the new morning show in the rival stations.
